Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted cold butter
  • 2 cups white granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cold half and half
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract, vanilla extract or peppermint extract
  • 3 large cold eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup half and half
  • Valentine’s themed sprinkles for decorating

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the cold half and half and the extract of choice.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
  7. Roll the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass or your hand.
  9. Bake for 9 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  10. Allow cooling before icing with powdered sugar mixed with half and half and decorating with sprinkles.
