Ingredients

  • 4-5 medium-sized fresh oranges
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice

Equipment

  • Large pot
  • sterilized jars
  • Cold plate
  • Cutting Board
  • Knife

Method

  1. Wash the oranges thoroughly, slice off both ends, and cut them into thin rounds, removing any seeds.
  2. In a large pot, combine sliced oranges, water, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil over medium heat and simmer for about 30 minutes until soft.
  3. Gradually stir in the granulated sugar over low heat until fully dissolved (about 10 minutes). Taste for sweetness.
  4. Check the consistency by placing a spoonful on a cold plate; if it holds its shape, it's ready.
  5. Pour hot marmalade into sterilized jars while warm, leaving some space at the top before sealing with lids.
  6. Let cool completely at room temperature before refrigerating.
